Why Richleen Irish Setters

Rich

My introduction to dogs was my fathers ,( Richard Porter 1948-1985) love of beagles and English setters his true passion was with his dogs on the barrens , woods just being in nature.
My only son too holds the honour to share his name. Dogs were his therapy , his happiness and he found his greatest joy working with them. I never forgot.

My beautiful daughter name’s is Kathleen. When she moved to pursue a career and new life in other parts of Canada I received My 2 nd Irish Captiva Kathleen who has provided so many exciting times in the show ring .

Our home is in love with adventure and in 2016 I took on the new world of embracing setters. I researched the breed that would best suit an active lifestyle and a breed I could hike, run and be a good companion . The setter was the perfect breed for my lifestyle .The fact that Irish have minimal shedding was a attractive feature too.

I thought down the road I'd love to breed and learn more in-depth about Irish and upon purchase from Captiva Irish Setters Owner Jill Taylor provided me with a long list of check points I would need in order to become as breeder. (She probably thought this silly woman from the rock) So as overwhelming as it looked I started number 1 title your dog. My first dog show was something out of a comedy show and much training , shows for myself and the girls 6 years later I'd like to think "we grew up in Dog Show World together. "

My dogs thrive outdoors in nature and have been a constant joy for our family. Our house is full with the most beautiful , unconditional love by our fur family.

While working with the girls and working with my business Sisters in Fitness I decided to pick it up a notch to learn more about dogs , behaviours, breeds and temperaments and began to board dogs.

I boarded so many pets , vast variety of breeds mixed and pure bred , rescues, therapy , hunting , agility and conformation titled dogs to learn more about dogs, structure , behaviours and temperaments. I enjoyed them all in their own special ways . It was the best learning experience . Plus it was great for my dogs socializing training.

After a long road, lots of Health Testing, CKC Guideline , CKC Conformation Titles, Classes , pushing through Pandemic delays its finally here ! Richleen breeding program has begun and I look forward to sharing this beautiful breed to many families. Loving these beautiful red heads is life changing.
